Brainstorming

A creative thinking technique used to generate a large number of ideas within a short period of time.

01

Generate quantity before quality

Brainstorming encourages participants to generate as many ideas as possible. By focusing on quantity first, teams create opportunities for unexpected and innovative concepts to emerge.

02

Defer judgement

Ideas should be recorded without criticism, evaluation or debate. Suspending judgement encourages participation and reduces the fear of being wrong.

03

Build upon ideas

Participants are encouraged to combine, adapt and extend ideas generated by others, creating richer and more innovative outcomes.
